Concert Band

Designed for the advancing high school musician, the Concert Band performs intermediate level high school repertoire including traditional, popular and contemporary styles. This non-auditioned group includes ninth through twelfth grade students.

Typically, the Concert Band performs four evening concerts and attends at least one band festival or contest. Students are eligible to participate in the solo and ensemble contest held each year. Additional course requirements include concerts, lessons, sectionals, written and performance assignments, and graduation band.

Varsity Band

Designed for the ninth grade musician, the Varsity Band performs intermediate level high school repertoire including traditional, popular and contemporary styles. Varsity Band is a non-auditioned group and only ninth grade students who wish to participate in both band and choir should register for this band.

Typically, the Varsity Band performs four evening concerts and attends at least one band festival or contest. Students are eligible to participate in the solo and ensemble contest held each year. Additional course requirements include concerts, lessons, sectionals, written & performance assignments and graduation band.

Wind Ensemble

Designed for the advanced high school musician, the Wind Ensemble is the most selective band at HHS, performing advanced high school and early college level repertoire. Students must audition in order to participate in this ensemble.

Typically, the Wind Ensemble performs four evening concerts and attends numerous band festivals or contests. Private lessons are strongly encouraged and recommended for members of this ensemble. Students are eligible to participate in the solo and ensemble contest held each year. Additional course requirements include concerts, lessons, sectionals, written and performance assignments, and graduation band.
